Role Description

The Director of Construction is a full-time, on-site role based in the New York City Metropolitan Area, overseeing multiple construction projects from planning through completion. This role manages project execution, including scheduling, resource allocation, site supervision, and coordination with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors. The Director of Construction establishes and monitors construction standards, ensures adherence to contract requirements, building codes, and safety regulations, and resolves issues that may impact timelines or quality. The position is responsible for reviewing budgets, tracking costs, supporting procurement decisions, and maintaining strong relationships with clients, vendors, and regulatory authorities. The Director will also mentor construction teams, implement best practices, and contribute to strategic planning and growth initiatives for NYR GROUP’s portfolio.

Qualifications

• Strong background in Construction management with experience leading complex, multi-phase projects.
• Foundational knowledge in Civil Engineering or a related field to support technical decision-making.
• Demonstrated skills in Budgeting and Cost Management to keep projects on schedule and within financial targets.
• Experience in Procurement, including vendor selection, contract negotiation, and materials management.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline; advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, CCM) are a plus.
• Proven leadership capabilities with experience managing cross-functional site teams and external partners.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Thorough understanding of local building codes, safety regulations, and permitting processes within the New York City Metropolitan Area.
• Ability to work on-site full-time and adapt to dynamic project environments.
