Job summary

City of Boca Raton seeks an expert leader to direct the Recreation Services Department, aligning programs with strategic plans and master plans. You will oversee parks, aquatics, libraries, and athletic facilities, coordinating capital projects and partnerships with public agencies and community groups.

Responsibilities include developing policies, managing budgets, and driving service excellence, accessibility, and fiscal sustainability while engaging with residents, visitors, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation Administration/Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, or closely related field.
• Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in recreation, parks, community services, or a related public-sector environment, including
• Five (5) years in a senior management or executive-level role.
• Direct experience directing complex recreation programs, facilities, operations, and services through subordinate managers and supervisors.
• Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, budget administration, personnel management, policy development, and community engagement.
• Experience developing and managing operating and capital budgets, contracts, partnerships, and service improvement initiatives.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership, vision, and strategic direction for the Recreation Services Department.
• Lead all departmental operations through subordinate managers to ensure organizational effectiveness.
• Shape and monitor the Department’s Strategic Plan and performance measures.
• Plan, deliver, and enhance recreation services including parks, libraries, aquatics, and community centers.
• Direct capital improvements, lifecycle management of facilities, and coordination with other agencies.
• Develop partnerships with educational institutions, nonprofits, and community organizations.
• Advise the City Manager and council on budgets, policies, and strategic initiatives.
• Represent the City before community organizations and professional associations.
