Job summary

University of Chicago’s Data Science Institute seeks a Director of Communications to lead strategic external and internal communications, enhancing the Institute’s visibility and brand alignment across programs and teams.

Responsibilities include managing staff, driving content across newsletters, digital channels, and media relations, and planning communications for graduate programs and partnerships. A strong candidate will have extensive higher-education communications experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.
• Graduate degree in a related field is preferred.
• 7+ years of work experience in communications, public relations, or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Oversee DSI communications staff, setting goals and evaluating performance.
• Lead the development of the DSI brand and messaging.
• Manage DSI website, ensuring security, compliance, and brand alignment.
• Drive strategy and content creation for newsletters, website, and social media.
• Plan and disseminate information about the Institute's programs, research, and viewpoints.
• Provide trainings on best practices for websites, social media, and more.
