Job summary

Cyberhaven, based in the Bay Area, is seeking a Director of Communications to build and lead our global communications strategy. This senior leader will own our story, thought leadership, media and analyst relations, and influencer partnerships to position Cyberhaven as the category leader in data security for the agentic enterprise.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of communications experience, with significant experience in B2B software and deep cybersecurity expertise.
• Proven track record building executive thought leadership platforms and developing strong analyst and influencer relationships.
• Experience advising C-level executives, including partnering directly with a CEO on high-stakes external communications.

Responsibilities

• Tell stories that break through the noise and shape the industry.
• Own and execute thought leadership strategy, bylines, research, ghostwriting, speaking opportunities, and industry commentary.
• Build advocacy across audiences: align internally, partner with customers for case studies and speaking opportunities, and work with ecosystem partners.
• Develop and manage relationships with key analysts, journalists, and influencers in security, B2B software, and Biz/tech.
• Advise the CEO and executive team on messaging for high-stakes moments and market-moving announcements.
• Collaborate with Product Marketing, Product Management, Demand and Sales to align communications with GTM priorities.
• Identify and implement AI tooling to accelerate content creation, media monitoring, and research.
• Develop crisis and issues communications plans for cybersecurity; oversee agency relationships and budget.
• Drive earned media, awards, and industry recognition and report on communications impact.

About the Role

Cyberhaven is looking for a Director of Communications to build and lead our global communications strategy. This person will own our story, thought leadership, media and analyst relations, and influencer partnerships shaping how Cyberhaven shows up in the market as the category leader in data security for the agentic enterprise. Reporting to the CMO, this is a high-visibility role that partners closely with the CEO, executive team, marketing and product management to turn Cyberhaven's story into market and brand momentum.

What You'll Do

• Tell stories that break through the noise and shape our industry.
• Own and execute Cyberhaven's thought leadership strategy; bylines, research, executive ghostwriting, speaking opportunities, and industry commentary that position our Company and executives as leading voices in cybersecurity, AI and data protection.
• Build broad advocacy for Cyberhaven across every audience that matters: drive internal alignment so employees understand and champion the company narrative, partner with customers to develop and tell their stories (case studies, references, speaking opportunities), and work with ecosystem partners to reinforce Cyberhaven's relevance and credibility in the broader security landscape.
• Build and manage relationships with key industry analysts, journalists, and influencers in the security, B2B software space and broader Biz/tech.
• Serve as a trusted communications advisor to the CEO and executive team, shaping messaging for high-stakes moments; funding news, breach commentary, industry controversies, and market-moving announcements.
• Partner with Product Marketing, Product Management, Demand and Sales to align communications with go-to-market priorities and pipeline goals.
• Champion AI adoption; identify and implement AI tooling to accelerate content creation, media monitoring, research, and workflow efficiency, and lead the team's transformation into an AI-first function.
• Develop and manage crisis and issues communications plans specific to the cybersecurity industry.
• Oversee PR agency relationships and manage the communications budget.
• Build a consistent drumbeat of earned media, award submissions, and industry recognition that reinforces Cyberhaven's category leadership.
• Measure and report on communications impact; share of voice, media/analyst sentiment, message pull-through to the CMO and executive team.

Who you Are
