Job description

We're looking for a Chief of Staff/Director of Communications who can think strategically, write exceptionally, and serve as the right hand to our client's CEO when it comes to messaging, alignment, and internal visibility.

This is not a traditional PR role. You won’t be dealing with media headlines—that’s handled elsewhere. Instead, you’ll focus on internal storytelling, executive communications, strategic initiatives, and ensuring that everyone across the organization is marching to the same drumbeat.

If you’ve worked in the power, energy, or construction space—and know your way around DOE initiatives and high-level messaging—this might be your next big move.

Ideally, the successful candidate will reside east of Pittsburgh, in the vicinity of Blairsville, PA or Greensburg, PA.

What You’ll Do:

  • Internal Communications: Draft staff updates, executive memos, Board materials, and CEO town hall content that’s clear, timely, and impactful.
  • Strategic Ops Support: Help coordinate cross-functional initiatives, track follow-up items from leadership meetings, and lead special projects from the CEO’s office.
  • Executive Messaging: Craft speeches, talking points, and presentations that elevate the CEO’s voice both internally and across key stakeholder channels.
  • Content Development: Create high-quality written content for internal newsletters, the website, and thought leadership pieces.
  • Digital Oversight: Maintain and refine website content; partner with designers and developers to ensure a cohesive digital presence.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Serve as a bridge between the CEO, department heads, and the VP of Government and Public Relations to ensure communication strategies are aligned.

What You Bring:

  • 7+ years in strategic communications, executive support, or chief of staff-type roles.
  • Strong background in the energy, power, or construction industries.
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills—clear, concise, and compelling.
  • Familiarity with DOE initiatives or federal energy-focused agencies (a big plus).
  • Experience managing cross-functional initiatives and coordinating executive communications.
  • Proficiency in CMS tools and digital platforms.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, PR, Journalism, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in executive-facing, high-stakes environments, especially within mission-driven or infrastructure-focused organizations.
