Job description

Sales Director, Communications and Software - North Central (Remote)

The Sales Director, Communications and Software, is responsible for achieving overall sales goals and growing the installed base of Hubbell’s technology products and services designed to secure, operate, and optimize the electrical distribution grid within the assigned territory. Utilizing both direct and indirect sales approaches, the Sales Director leads customer engagement across multiple product lines within the territory and develops strategies to assess customer needs, develop solutions, gather market intelligence, and secure business with current and new customers.

Candidate must reside in the following states: WI, IL, IN, MO, KY

Responsibilities include:
  • Promoting Hubbell as a market leader in electrical grid automation by understanding regional, state, and national dynamics.
  • Developing and maintaining networks with utility management, project teams, channel partners, and industry stakeholders.
  • Identifying growth opportunities with new and existing customers.
  • Leading segment sales resources in account analysis and strategic planning to grow the installed base of Intelligent Grid Systems.
  • Assessing competitors and developing differentiated market approaches.
  • Leading marketing campaigns and contributing to product development ideas.
  • Collaborating with Product Management and sales teams to gather customer feedback.
  • Leading the commercialization of new offerings and conducting market research.
  • Achieving sales targets and growth plans through territory analysis and specific sales programs.
  • Conducting product presentations and overcoming technical objections.
  • Supporting proposals, internal approvals, and customer credit processes.
  • Maintaining CRM data, controlling sales expenses, and collaborating with sales channel leadership.
  • Managing agent/distributor relationships, supervising their efforts, and ensuring policy compliance.
  • Coordinating project activities between agencies to maximize sales and developing sales quotas for agents/distributors.
  • Representing Hubbell at industry trade shows and coordinating customer meetings.
Qualifications:
  • BS in Engineering (Electrical preferred); MBA a plus.
  • 10+ years in power systems or communications, with utility experience preferred.
  • 5+ years in sales or product management roles.
  • Experience supervising independent sales agents/distributors preferred.
Skills and Knowledge:
  • Understanding electrical standards (UL, IEC, ANSI, IEEE, CE).
  • Knowledge of import/export regulations, electrical standards, and product applications.
  • Ability to write technical papers and familiarity with Microsoft Office.
Language Skills:
  • Proficiency in reading, analyzing, and interpreting technical and legal documents.
  • Effective communication with customers and stakeholders.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
  • Reside in WI, IL, IN, MO, or KY.
