Job summary

AMSURG, a national leader in ambulatory surgery center services, seeks a Director of Coding & Education to lead coding quality, audits, and education across the ASC platform. You will partner with Revenue Cycle Operations, Compliance, and clinical leaders to promote consistent coding practices, optimize reimbursement, and strengthen compliance.

This remote-first role has enterprise impact and strategic growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of ASC reimbursement methodologies and coding rules.
• CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM, and payer regulations experience.
• Experience presenting complex findings to executives.
• Minimum 10 years in coding, compliance, or audit.
• Minimum 5 years of leadership in coding functions.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise coding audit and compliance program for ambulatory surgery centers.
• Develop annual coding audit plans based on financial risk, regulatory activity, payer trends, and organizational priorities.
• Conduct audits on CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM coding accuracy and documentation; oversee modifier usage and reimbursement compliance.
• Identify coding and documentation risks and develop corrective action plans with operational leaders.
• Monitor and trend audit findings and report to executive leadership.
• Support external audit preparedness and response activities involving CMS and payers.
• Serve as enterprise expert on ASC reimbursement methodologies and specialty-specific coding requirements.
• Develop and maintain coding standards and guidance across facilities.
• Partner with clinical/operational leaders to evaluate coding implications of new procedures and tech.
• Interpret changes in CPT coding, Medicare rules, payer policies, and industry regulations.
