Director of Cloud Platform Engineering - Digital and Technology Partners - Remote
The Director of Cloud Platform Engineering will lead the development, delivery, and ongoing optimization of enterprise Cloud infrastructure services. This role will be responsible for the long-term direction and execution of Cloud strategy with an emphasis on automation, resilience, security, and cost-effectiveness. The ideal candidate is a strategic yet hands-on leader with deep Cloud expertise, strong architecture and automation skills, and a proven ability to align technology with business goals
Responsibilities
- Define the overall Cloud architecture framework ensuring that all solutions adhere to best practices for security, performance, business continuity, and scalability.
- Oversee the implementation and enforcement of platform architecture standards and Cloud governance.
- Evaluate emerging Cloud technologies, drive automation, and leverage best practices to enhance organizational agility.
- Plan and lead the strategic development of the infrastructure technical roadmap, focusing on projects related to environment optimization and new technology adoption.
- Manage and mentor cross-functional teams of senior engineers and contractors, ensuring clear direction, high performance, and effective collaboration.
- Develop metrics and KPIs to monitor cloud usage, performance, and cost trends, informing strategic decisions and optimizations.
- Establish and enforce cloud governance, cost optimization practices, and operational controls.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Business Administration and/or Information Systems with course work in Computer Science or equivalent; Masters preferred.
- 5 years of progressive information systems management experience preferably in a health care field.
Other Skills Strongly Preferred
- 10+ years of experience as a Cloud Engineer or similar role.
- 5+ years of experience leading teams of senior engineers.
- Strong project management and communication skills.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
- Strong knowledge of cloud architecture, DevOps principles, and IaC tools.
- Experience with containerization technologies and microservices architecture.
- Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, Azure Resource Manager, Azure CLI, etc.
- Knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, etc.) and their application in Cloud technologies.
- Knowledge of security best practices for Cloud environments and data protection.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Microsoft Azure Architect Technologies (AZ-300) or commiserate certification is a plus.
Compensation Statement
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $143,858.00 - $239,662.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
