We are seeking a Catering Director for a high-volume and premier catering department at SUNY Plattsburgh in Plattsburgh, NY.

The Catering Director will be responsible for developing and driving catering solutions to meet our customers' needs while working closely with the Executive Chef on menu development. Events encompass a diverse spectrum, from coffee services to exclusive VIP dining occasions, hosted both on and off campus. The Catering Director will also be the main point of contact for catered events at the Valcour Inn & Boathouse.

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary - $75,000- $80,000, based on skill, experience, and work history

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee internal and external catering events to ensure seamless execution and outstanding customer satisfaction.
• Develop and maintain the catering marketing plan, offering clients comprehensive event planning services and detailed menu development tailored to their needs.
• Lead the hiring, training, and scheduling of catering staff, contributing to staff development in service techniques, menu presentation, policies, and procedures.
• Ensure successful operation of catering functions, including controlling labor and food costs, and managing all aspects of events from setup to cleanup.
• Collaborate with management and marketing teams to implement strategies to increase catering revenue and market reach.
• Foster strong client relationships to align programs with their objectives, enhancing satisfaction and retention.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support dining service operations.

Preferred Qualifications

• An associate's degree is preferred.
• Minimum of five years of catering leadership experience, including two in management.
• Experience in booking, menu costing, pricing contracts, and sourcing temporary help and equipment.
• Strong supervision skills in food preparation, service, and cleanup, ensuring high standards.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Proficiency with computers.
