Job summary

The University of North Carolina Wilmington seeks an Associate Director for Career Development to lead strategic planning and program development for career services. You will manage operations, build partnerships with staff, faculty, alumni, and students, and drive initiatives aligned with the university’s goals.

You will help shape data-driven career programs, mentor staff, and participate in leadership activities within the Career Center and broader university context.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in higher education administration, student affairs, career development, or related fields.
• Minimum of five years of progressively responsible supervision experience in collegiate career services.
• Experience applying career theory and practice in individual and group settings.
• Experience with strategic planning and data analysis to support program recommendations.
• Ability to leverage career data for external and on-campus messaging.

Responsibilities

• The Associate Director is responsible for strategic planning, implementation, coordination, and control of activities within comprehensive career development functions.
• This position develops strategic vision and planning for career development, including internal and external initiatives and programs.
• Responsibilities include benchmarking programs against educational institutions and aligning goals with university strategy.
• It manages multifaceted relationships with staff, faculty, alumni, and students and serves on leadership teams.
• It oversees day-to-day Career Center operations and serves as the point person in the Director’s absence.
