Director of Capture Management - Space Warfighting

LOCATION: Arlington, VA; Huntsville, AL; Denver, CO; Los Angeles, CA

JOB STATUS: Full-time

CLEARANCE: TS/SCI Eligible (TS/SCI w/CI Poly preferred)

TRAVEL: Up to 50% (Dependent on customer, pursuit, and mission needs)

SALARY RANGE: $200K - $265K

Astrion has an exciting opportunity for an onsite Director of Capture Management - Space Warfighting, to help shape the next chapter of national security space. This is an exciting senior-level opportunity for a capture leader who wants to work and make an impact at the intersection of growth strategy, mission innovation, and one of the most important shifts in modern defense: space as an active warfighting domain. In this role, you will help Astrion move beyond traditional services capture and into integrated, solution‑led growth across Space Force, Combatant Commands, Intelligence Community, and other national security space customers as well as allied nations. You will partner with senior growth, mission, campaign, technical, and customer-facing leaders to shape opportunities that bring together mission engineering, AI‑enabled software, cyber‑resilient ground systems, space control, space sensing, test and evaluation, operational support, and mission integration. This is a role for someone who can see where the market is going, understand what customers need before it is fully defined, and turn Astrion’s capabilities into differentiated solutions that matter to the warfighter.

MISSION AREA: SPACE WARFIGHTING

The Space Warfighting mission area is focused on customers across the U.S. Space Force, Space Systems Command, Combat Forces Command, STARCOM, NRO, USSPACECOM, SAF/SQ, SMDC, related national security space partners and allied defense space organizations. Astrion is positioning this mission area around integrated capabilities for contested space architectures, missile warning and tracking, dynamic space operations and command and control, sensor-to‑shooter orchestration, space control, electromagnetic warfare, cyber‑ and EW‑resilient ground systems and links, operational test, training, wargaming, rapid acquisition, and mission sustainment.

This is not a role for someone who simply tracks opportunities. It requires a senior capture leader who can build customer trust, influence early shaping, understand the competitive field, develop credible solution strategies with technical SMEs, and lead disciplined capture campaigns from qualification through award.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 20+ years of capture management, business development, program management, military space operations, defense acquisition, or related national security growth experience.
    • Proven record personally leading and winning complex federal captures in the defense, intelligence, national security space, or mission‑critical technical services market.
    • Demonstrated experience in Space Warfighting or adjacent mission areas, including several of the following: space control, space domain awareness, missile warning and tracking, OPIR, electromagnetic warfare, orbital warfare, mission C2/BMC2, ground systems, cyber resilience, operational test, wargaming, training, or mission operations support.
    • Strong familiarity with U.S. Space Force, SSC, CFC, STARCOM, NRO, USSPACECOM, SAF/SQ, SMDC, or related customers, including acquisition rhythms, mission priorities, customer pain points, and the industry ecosystem.
    • Experience shaping and capturing SETA, SE&I, test and evaluation, software, cyber, mission operations, space operations support, or integrated solution opportunities.
    • Working knowledge of FAR/DFARS, IDIQs, task orders, GWACs, OTAs, CSOs, rapid prototyping pathways, recompetes, price‑to‑win, and probability‑of‑win methods.
    • Demonstrated ability to apply market intelligence, competitive analysis, GovWin, FPDS, SAM.gov, CRM systems, AI, and data analytics to prioritize opportunities and improve capture management outcomes.
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, National Security, Space Systems, Public Policy, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Executive presence with the ability to engage senior government customers, industry partners, and internal executives with credibility and confidence.
    • Strong ability to translate complex mission needs into differentiated, customer‑centered capture strategies and solution concepts.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to influence across matrixed teams.
    • Strategic thinker with disciplined business judgment, including the ability to assess where Astrion should prime, sub, team, invest, or no‑bid.
    • Ability to lead cross‑functional capture teams across business development, operations, technical SMEs, contracts, pricing, finance, recruiting, and executive stakeholders.
  • Clearance:
    • U.S. citizenship required.
    • Top Secret/SCI eligible; active TS/SCI w/CI Poly preferred.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
  • Prior experience supporting or capturing work for U.S. Space Force, Space Systems Command, NRO, USSPACECOM, STARCOM, SAF/SQ, CFC, SMDC, or related national security space organizations.
  • Experience with space control, electronic warfare, space domain awareness, missile warning and tracking, ground systems, space operations, cyber, operational test, mission software, or warfighter training.
  • Experience developing solution‑led captures involving AI‑enabled software, mission engineering, cyber assurance, modeling and simulation, wargaming, digital engineering, test automation, or mission integration.
  • Prior military, government civilian, or industry experience in space operations, acquisition, intelligence, cyber, EW, missile warning, or command‑and‑control roles.

  • Existing relationships with space primes, OEMs, nontraditional technology companies, new‑space firms, or specialized mission partners.
  • Experience moving a business from labor‑centric pursuits toward integrated, outcome‑based, solution‑led growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead strategic capture efforts across the Space Warfighting mission area, including opportunities with U.S. Space Force, SSC, CFC, STARCOM, NRO, USSPACECOM, SAF/SQ, SMDC, and related customers.

  • Develop and execute capture strategies for mission areas such as space control, electromagnetic warfare, space sensing, SDA, mission integration, cyber‑resilient ground systems, operational test, training, and sustainment.
  • Build customer engagement plans that deepen Astrion understanding of mission needs, acquisition timelines, funding priorities, decision makers, and pain points.
  • Translate customer needs into clear win themes, solution discriminators, teaming strategies, pricing considerations, and pursuit priorities.
  • Use market intelligence, acquisition data, customer insights, and competitive analysis to prioritize opportunities and inform bid, no‑bid, prime, sub, and teaming decisions.
  • Shape differentiated solutions by collaborating with technical SMEs in mission engineering, battlespace management command and control (BMC2), software, cyber, T&E, space operations, systems engineering, training, mission support, mission architecture development, space / ground hardware, etc.
  • Build and maintain capture plans that include customer engagement, competitive assessment, solution development, pricing strategy, teaming, risk management, and gate‑review readiness.
  • Develop teaming and partner strategies with primes, OEMs, nontraditional technology firms, and specialized mission partners to strengthen Astrion position to win.
  • Prepare leadership briefings, gate reviews, investment recommendations, and pursuit health assessments that are realistic, data‑driven, and tied to customer mission outcomes.
  • Track capture performance through meaningful KPIs, including qualification quality, customer engagement progress, solution maturity, teaming status, P‑Win movement, and gate readiness.
  • Represent Astrion in customer meetings, industry engagements, technical exchanges, and partner discussions with a clear point of view on the Space Warfighting mission.
