White Mountains Community College seeks a Director of Campus Safety to plan, develop, and direct all aspects of campus public safety for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The role protects College property and facilities and coordinates investigations of safety-related incidents.

Reporting to the Business Affairs Officer, the Director of Campus Safety plans, develops, and directs all aspects of campus public safety to ensure the safety and security of all students, faculty, staff, and visitors; the protection of College property and facilities; the appropriate investigation of criminal activity reports and safety-related incidents; and the efficient and effective operation of the department in support of the College’s mission, vision, and values.
Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university with a major study in the field of criminal justice, law enforcement, public administration, or a related field of study.
Three years of experience in the field of criminal justice, law enforcement, public administration, or a related field, plus two years of supervisory experience in any occupational area. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
Valid New Hampshire Driver’s License. CPR/AED and basic first aid certification. National Incident Management System (NIMS) certification desired.
Knowledge of safety and security issues and trends within higher education. Extensive knowledge of the Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act (Clery Act). Effective management, organization, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of emergency preparedness planning including mitigation, preparedness, prevention, continuity of operations, recovery, and response. Experience in emergency management. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and to effectively communicate with diverse student populations and multiple constituents. Demonstrated ability to identify, resolve, and consult on a wide range of safety and security issues while focusing on institutional needs and priorities. Ability to work well in a team environment. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely both orally and in writing. Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in the performance of duties. Proficient in the use of technology, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other graphic presentation software. Ability to work within the framework of a collective bargaining environment. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the college appointing authority.
