Job summary

Western Washington University’s Child Development Center seeks a Director to provide strategic, collaborative leadership for a high‑quality early childhood program serving students, faculty, staff and community families.

You will oversee personnel, budgeting, enrollment, licensing, risk, and program assessment while partnering with campus departments and external agencies to promote continuous improvement and program excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Early Education Leadership, or related field.
• Progressive leadership experience in an early childhood education or related setting, including staff supervision.
• Demonstrated knowledge of child development and inclusive learning environments for ages 1–5.
• Ability to build collaborative relationships with families, staff, university partners, and community stakeholders.
• Commitment to equity, inclusion, and belonging through leadership and organizational practices.
• Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and technology skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead recruitment, onboarding, supervision, mentoring, evaluations, and staff development.
• Foster a collaborative culture and promote employee engagement and effective communication.
• Manage personnel matters per policies and bargaining agreements; support professional growth.
• Ensure staff maintain certifications and ongoing developmental hours.
