Job summary

Lesaffre, via its Recombia division, seeks a Director of Bioengineering to shape technical strategy and drive innovation across platform development and lab operations. You will lead scientists from early R&D to scale-up, partnering with the Biofoundry and senior leadership to deliver high-impact outcomes.

Qualifications

• PhD degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, chemical engineering, chemistry, bioengineering).
• 15+ years of industry research experience with publications and/or patents.
• Deep expertise in metabolic engineering of yeasts (S. cerevisiae, Y. lipolytica) with hands-on experience engineering other organisms, and translating research into industrialized products.
• Proven ability to navigate the full development lifecycle from concept through commercialization.

• Lead a team of scientists from R&D through industrialization with efficient execution and impactful outcomes.
• Collaborate with Biofoundry, Centers of Excellence, and senior leadership to maintain high performance.
• Translate complex scientific concepts into actionable strategies and align stakeholders around a bold technical vision.
• Provide hands-on technical mentorship and oversee project milestones.
• Drive collaborations with business units and external customers to identify new opportunities.
• Oversee lab operations, procurement, safety, and equipment maintenance.
