Descrizione del lavoro

Royal Productions is a premier national audiovisual and live event production company with nearly 40 years of excellence. We serve as the dedicated in-house AV partner at hotel properties across the country, delivering full-service production for corporate meetings, conferences, galas, and large-scale events, and our main office team produces road shows, conferences, and trade shows nationally. We cover audio, video, lighting, rigging, scenic, electrical, and IT, and we build most of our scenic in our own shop.

The Role

The Director of Audio owns audio for the entire company. Every property we operate, every road show we produce, and every new hotel we bring online runs on audio decisions that start with this person, from which consoles and wireless systems we buy to how a general session is designed to who gets the call when a ballroom system starts acting up an hour before doors.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role. You’ll design systems, recommend and source the gear, keep our audio inventory in top shape, and act as the expert our property directors and technicians lean on nationwide. You’ll also get out in the field, both on our larger productions and at our properties when they need you there in person.

There are no direct reports. The authority in this job comes from owning the audio standard company-wide, so the right person will lead through expertise, training, and follow-through rather than a title. The role grows as we grow, and we’re adding properties.

You’ll report to our Executive Director of Events & Technology and work out of our main office and warehouse in the New Orleans area.

What You’ll Do
System Design & Standards
  • Design audio systems for ballrooms, general sessions, breakouts, and offsite programs, matching the rig to the room, the scope, and the budget
  • Set the company’s audio standard, including the preferred gear, system configurations, and best practices our properties should follow
  • Review the audio side of larger proposals and show designs before they go to the client, so what we sell is something we can deliver well
  • Build purchase lists and recommend capital purchases based on what our properties and shows actually need
  • Source gear, compare options, and negotiate with dealers and manufacturers
  • Manage our audio vendor and dealer relationships, including warranty claims and service agreements
Inventory & Equipment Care
  • Own audio inventory across the company, including condition, warranty, service, and repair
  • QC every piece of audio gear that comes in and out of the main warehouse, so what leaves our building works and what comes back gets checked before it goes out again
  • Keep track of what’s in service, what’s due for repair, and what’s due to be replaced, and plan ahead before a gap shows up on a show
New Property Launches
  • Own the audio package for every new property we bring online, from specification and purchasing through delivery, installation support, and training the local team
  • Work with our operations and sales leaders so the audio setup at a new property fits the hotel’s spaces and the business we expect to book there
Technical Support & Training
  • Serve as the go-to audio resource for property directors and technicians nationwide, by phone and on site
  • Troubleshoot system problems remotely when possible, and travel to the property when it’s needed
  • Train our staff on new gear as it arrives, and on any equipment that takes real expertise to run
  • Build simple training materials and standards our teams can refer back to, so knowledge doesn’t live in one person’s head
Shows & Production
  • Get involved early in the planning of our larger productions and road shows, and work on site through load-in, rehearsal, show, and strike
  • Handle RF and frequency coordination on large and multi-room shows, including working with outside RF coordinators and venue production teams
  • Step in as A1 or system tech on high-profile programs when the show calls for it
What We’re Looking For
  • Several years of professional live audio experience in hotel AV, corporate events, or production, with real time spent mixing and running shows
  • Strong system design judgment, meaning you can look at a room, a scope, and a budget and specify the right rig
  • Deep wireless and RF knowledge, including frequency coordination across multi-room shows
  • Solid experience with digital mixing consoles, DSP, and wireless microphone and IEM systems; audio networking (such as Dante) is a strong plus
  • Comfort owning purchasing and vendor relationships, and treating the company’s money like your own
  • An organized approach to inventory and equipment care, because the details matter when gear is moving between multiple markets
  • Clear communication with technicians, property directors, clients, and leadership, and the patience to teach what you know
  • The temperament to be the single audio resource for a growing company, and the self-motivation to work without a lot of oversight
Schedule, Travel & Physical Requirements
  • Regular national travel to our properties and event sites, including overnight stays
  • Event-driven schedule that includes early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays, along with phone availability when a property or show needs support
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, stand and walk for long periods, and work occasionally at height on ladders and lifts
Why Royal Productions

You’ll set the audio standard for a national company that’s growing, with real ownership over how we design, buy, and support audio everywhere we operate. You’ll have the backing of an in-house warehouse and production team, and a leadership group that values people who are willing to roll up their sleeves and wear more than one hat.

Royal Productions is an equal opportunity employer.
