Description du poste

Lead the operational strategy and delivery of large-scale assessment programmes in a mission-driven organisation dedicated to maintaining high standards in professional licensing.

As Director of Assessment Operations, you will build and modernise the operating model supporting assessment content production, grading, and exam delivery.

You will drive the transition toward more scalable, digitised, and flexible examination processes while ensuring current operations remain reliable and efficient.

Working across product, engineering, psychometrics, and test development teams, you will translate strategic priorities into practical workflows and production capabilities.

You will also oversee external delivery partnerships, operational governance, capacity planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.

This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of high-stakes assessment operations while protecting quality, consistency, and exam integrity.

The position is remote, with eligibility limited to applicants based in specific US states.

Accountabilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of the assessment operating model, ensuring reliable day-to-day delivery and alignment with long-term modernisation priorities.
  • Design and manage scalable assessment content production workflows, including capacity planning, scheduling, resource allocation, production controls, and timely delivery.
  • Partner with Test Development, Psychometrics, Product, and Product Engineering teams to modernise content pipelines through streamlined workflows, automation, and responsible AI-assisted processes.
  • Oversee operational planning for constructed-response grading, including grader capacity, recruitment logistics, training schedules, assignments, and workflow coordination.
  • Work with psychometric and test development specialists to implement standardised grading operations, calibration support, quality monitoring, and scalable processes that maintain scoring consistency.
  • Build the operational capabilities required to support more frequent and flexible examination models, including evolving test-centre and delivery approaches.
  • Establish operational readiness frameworks, implementation plans, contingency procedures, and review processes across jurisdictions, venues, and delivery environments.
  • Coordinate with external exam delivery and technology providers to manage operational planning, implementation, readiness, service delivery, and continuous improvement.
  • Define shared responsibilities, service expectations, performance measures, escalation paths, and governance processes for vendor-dependent operations.
  • Coordinate priorities, dependencies, and execution across Psychometrics, Test Development, Product, User Experience, Product Engineering, and other operational teams.
  • Identify and implement the systems, tools, documentation, standard operating procedures, and infrastructure needed to support sustainable, production-grade operations.
  • Establish operational metrics and reporting to monitor throughput, quality, turnaround times, capacity, costs, partner performance, and improvement opportunities.
  • Identify operational risks and lead mitigation planning, issue escalation, contingency preparation, and business continuity efforts to protect exam integrity and service reliability.
  • Develop and manage operational budgets, staffing models, resource plans, and capacity forecasts.
  • Lead organisational change and operational improvement initiatives while building and managing internal teams and external resources as the function evolves.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required; an advanced degree in business, operations, education, assessment, or a related field is preferred.
  • 8–10 years of progressively responsible experience leading complex operations, production systems, programme delivery, or large-scale service functions.
  • Demonstrated experience in people leadership and cross-functional management.
  • Proven ability to build scalable operating processes, manage high-volume workflows, improve quality and throughput, and implement performance measures and operational controls.
  • Experience in educational assessment, licensure or certification, regulated operations, or another high-stakes, quality-sensitive environment is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with specialists in psychometrics, content development, engineering, product, and operations while respecting their technical expertise.
  • Experience managing strategic technology or service-provider relationships, including operational planning, vendor performance, service levels, escalation, and cross-organisational accountability.
  • Excellent judgement, communication, organisational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines, navigate ambiguity, and lead complex initiatives across multiple teams.
  • Familiarity with workflow automation, production analytics, and responsible applications of AI in operational processes is an advantage.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 10%.
  • Must be based in one of the eligible states: Florida, Iowa, Indiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Washington, or Wisconsin.
