Job summary

Caris Life Sciences seeks an experienced Director of App-SRE to own production reliability for the clinical software portfolio. You will lead incident response, define SLOs, manage on-call rotations, and drive automation-aligned improvements across CI/CD pipelines.

You will report to the Corporate VP for Clinical Software Products and collaborate with information-security, quality, and infrastructure teams to ensure audit-ready evidence and compliant operation in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or closely related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of professional experience in SRE, DevOps, platform engineering, or production operations.
• 4+ years in people-management or team-lead role within SRE/production-operations.
• Hands-on incident response leadership for Tier 1 or business-critical systems, as incident commander or senior responder.
• Experience defining and implementing SLOs, error budgets, and alerting/on-call workflows.

Responsibilities

• Own the production-support model for the clinical application portfolio, including on-call rotation and incident-response playbooks.
• Establish and audit production-access and segregation-of-duties controls for SOX ITGCs and FDA requirements.
• Define clinical SLOs, error budgets, and availability targets; monitor MTTR, MTBF, and on-call burden.
• Lead incident response for high-severity events; coordinate cross-functional teams and drive post-incident remediation.
• Develop the runbook library and automate operational tasks; enable safe interventions via documented procedures.
• Drive automation-first modernization; reduce toil and promote self-service tooling.
• Coordinate deployments, verify health, and decide on rollbacks; ensure audit-ready documentation.
• Hire and develop App-SRE team; set performance expectations and growth paths.
• Own application-layer observability and dashboards with cross-team alignment.
• Represent App-SRE in leadership forums and compliance audits.
