Job summary

Emory Healthcare in Atlanta seeks a Director of Anatomic Pathology to lead the department on-site. The role encompasses supervision of staff, clinical and technical leadership, and ensuring timely, accurate diagnostic services.

You will drive quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and support education and research within an academic medical setting, collaborating with pathologists, clinicians, and administrators.

Qualifications

• Board certification in Anatomic Pathology (AP or AP/CP) and eligibility for medical licensure in the state of Georgia.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in anatomic pathology services, including supervision of clinical teams and laboratory operations.
• Strong expertise in surgical pathology and cytopathology with a track record of accurate, timely diagnostic interpretation.
• Experience with quality assurance, regulatory standards, and accreditation requirements (CAP, CLIA, Joint Commission).
• Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary clinical teams and administrative leaders.
• Commitment to mentoring and educating trainees, technologists, and junior faculty in an academic environment.
• Ability to lead process improvements and support research or scholarly activities.
• Preferred experience in a large academic medical center; subspecialty expertise is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all anatomic pathology services, including surgical pathology and cytology.
• Provide clinical and technical leadership and resource management.
• Supervise staff and manage day-to-day laboratory operations.
• Participate in case review, consultations, and multidisciplinary care.
• Lead quality improvement initiatives and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Support education, training, and scholarly activities within the department.
