Job summary

Hartford Public Schools seeks an Assistant Director of Alternative Programming to lead the HOPE Academy and the Student Support and Success Centers, developing an infrastructure that serves both general and special education students within the master schedule. You will guide program design, staff supervision, and cross-team collaboration to promote student success.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in education and at least five years of successful teaching experience.
• Understanding of student-centered learning and data-informed progress monitoring.
• Experience supervising staff and coordinating with diverse student populations.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills in an educational setting.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership, coordination, and oversight of HOPE Academy, Student Support and Success Centers, and assigned programs.
• Develops, implements, and evaluates program structures aligned with district priorities and student needs.
• Collaborates with district and school leadership to identify gaps and strengthen service delivery.
• Monitors strategies to improve attendance, engagement, credit attainment, graduation, and postsecondary readiness.
• Leads data-informed continuous improvement across programs and ensures accountability.
• Promotes restorative practices, equity, and partnerships with families and community organizations.
