Job summary

Stanford Health Care seeks a hands-on, visionary Director of Engineering to own the chatEHR platform. You will lead the technical development and strategic execution, building core platform components, agentic frameworks, and user-facing apps used by thousands of clinicians and researchers.

You will bridge AI research with production systems, mentor engineers, and drive scalable, compliant solutions within a fast-moving health‑tech environment.

Qualifications

10+ years of software engineering with 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
Proven track record leading AI/ML products.
Deep knowledge of GenAI stack (LLMs, RAG, vector databases).
Experience designing scalable cloud-native systems (GCP/AWS/AZURE) and Kubernetes.
Strong mentoring, technical direction, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

Lead engineering vision for chatEHR platform and align with clinical needs.
Build and mentor a high-performing team of engineers and data scientists.
Define strategic technical roadmap and ensure HIPAA/compliance adherence.
Oversee platform architecture, MLOps, and API ecosystem for enterprise use.
Collaborate with research labs to translate cutting-edge findings into production features.
