Job summary

Citigroup Inc. in Jersey City is seeking a Director Forward Deployed Engineer to shape AI-powered payment solutions. You will own the technical strategy, architecture, and delivery roadmap for CPX across markets, driving rapid production deployments and maintaining enterprise standards.

Qualifications

• 15+ years leading and scaling high-performing engineering teams.
• Experience establishing engineering culture, values, accountability and excellence.
• Strong PDLC, CI/CD, testing frameworks, and DORA metrics.
• Experience in customer-facing/FD engineering translating business needs into technical solutions.
• Hands-on AI: Google ADK, MCP servers; architect AI in production.
• Expert in Python and Java, API design, microservices, distributed systems.
• Experience with Kubernetes: pods, service mesh, ingress, autoscaling, multi-cluster orchestration.
• Docker and containerization: multi-stage builds, registries.
• Cloud-Native architectures and deployment on AWS (EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB).
• Event-driven architectures and brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS SNS/SQS, Google Pub/Sub).
• NoSQL databases like MongoDB.

Responsibilities

• Lead CPX rollout in key markets and own technical strategy and delivery.
• Drive rapid, reliable production deployments.
• Ensure engineering execution aligns with business objectives and client needs.
• Direct Forward Deployed Engineering work with clients and stakeholders.
• Identify high-value AI opportunities and deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Mentor and develop a team of engineers; foster excellence and accountability.
• Design and build AI capabilities using Google ADK and MCP in production workflows.
• Develop scalable APIs and backend services using Python and Java.
• Deploy, operate and maintain services on Kubernetes/AWS; ensure reliability and scalability.
• Lead migration and integration across platforms (ARC, AgentFlow).
• Communicate progress, risks, and strategic recommendations to senior leaders.

Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

Master’s degree preferred
