Job summary

The College of the Holy Cross seeks a Director of Applied AI for Academic Initiatives to lead cross‑disciplinary AI initiatives across research, teaching, learning and student development. The role partners with faculty and student affairs to establish the AI Exploration Lab and to shepherd student‑led inquiry from scope to dissemination.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in learning design, instructional technology, education, a relevant disciplinary field, or a closely related area
• Doctorate preferred
• Five or more years of relevant professional experience in higher education
• Demonstrated expertise in learning design or instructional design with partnership with faculty
• Experience mentoring or advising student research
• Familiarity with grant-seeking or sponsored research support is preferred
• Familiarity with learning science and retrieval practice, spacing, desirable difficulty

Responsibilities

• Research enablement and domain acceleration by partnering with faculty to evaluate AI opportunities across disciplines
• Lead the AI Exploration Lab and shepherd student-led research from scoping to presentation
• Identify grant and fellowship opportunities and assist proposal development with technical narratives and budgets
• Collaborate with Learning Design and Center for Inclusive Excellence in Teaching on course design and inclusive teaching
• Develop governance, policy considerations, and risk assessment for AI tools and projects
• Coordinate with ITS, Data Architecture, Enterprise Systems and Information Security to ensure secure, scalable solutions
