Job summary

Extreme Networks seeks an experienced Director of SW Engineering - Exchange to lead the AI-driven networking platform. You will guide multi-team efforts on agent orchestration, tool ecosystems, and secure, reliable microservices.

The role requires deep expertise in distributed systems, cloud platforms, and enterprise-grade runtime infrastructure. You will partner with product, architecture, security, and CloudOps to shape the technical direction and deliver high-impact, scalable solutions for

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 15+ years of software engineering experience, incl. 10+ years in leadership and 5+ years of managing managers.
• Proven track record delivering complex AI/automation platforms.
• Strong understanding of generative AI, agentic architectures, LLM integration, and governance.
• Experience leading cloud-native, data-intensive services with distributed systems expertise.
• Experience guiding multi-program roadmaps and cross-functional collaboration.
• Excellent communication with executives, product leaders, and engineers.

Responsibilities

• Provide visionary technical and organizational leadership for AI agent platforms and cloud-native services.
• Define and drive the engineering roadmap for scalable, secure systems enabling AI agents and workflows.
• Build and mentor high-performing teams, hire and develop leaders, enforce engineering standards.
• Drive execution across programs with clear priorities, risk management, and governance.
• Guide architectural decisions for distributed systems, multi-agent workflows, and platform extensibility.
• Champion production readiness, observability, and security-by-design practices.
• Stay current with AI trends, agent frameworks, tooling, and governance.
