Skilled Nursing Facility | Long Island, NY

A skilled nursing facility on Long Island is seeking an experienced Director of Admissions to lead its admissions department, drive census growth, and ensure an efficient, well-coordinated admissions process.

The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of skilled nursing facility admissions, insurance verification, and payer requirements, along with the leadership skills needed to build relationships, manage referrals, and support facility census goals.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and optimize the admissions process in collaboration with facility leadership.

• Review and process resident referrals, PRI assessments, and required approvals in a timely manner.

• Conduct insurance verifications and confirm financial eligibility for prospective residents.

• Utilize AllScripts to manage admissions workflows, referrals, and documentation.

• Collaborate with facility administrators, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to facilitate smooth resident transitions.

• Maintain a strong working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, and other payer requirements.

• Develop and maintain relationships with hospitals, referral sources, and community partners to support census development.

• Monitor admissions activity, follow up on pending referrals, and identify opportunities to improve conversion rates and occupancy.

• Ensure admissions documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with applicable requirements.

Qualifications

• Previous experience reviewing PRI assessments is required.

• AllScripts experience is required.

• Hands-on insurance verification experience is required.

• Proven experience in skilled nursing facility admissions and census development.

• Strong understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, and other insurance requirements.

• Excellent communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.

• Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of leading an admissions team in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to build strong relationships with referral sources and collaborate effectively with facility leadership.
