Director, Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS)

Our Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) practice is seeking a highly accomplished Director to lead complex client engagements, provide strategic accounting guidance, and help drive the continued growth of a rapidly expanding advisory practice.

This role is ideal for a seasoned accounting and advisory professional with deep expertise in U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, technical accounting, and transaction advisory services. The Director will serve as a trusted advisor to CFOs, Controllers, Chief Accounting Officers, Audit Committees, and private equity and venture-backed organizations, helping clients navigate critical accounting, financial reporting, and business transformation initiatives.

The successful candidate will combine exceptional technical accounting knowledge with strong leadership, client relationship management, and business development capabilities. This individual will shape client outcomes, mentor professionals across the practice, and contribute to the firm's long-term strategic growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee complex accounting advisory and consulting engagements for public and private company clients.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership teams on technical accounting, financial reporting, SEC compliance, and strategic finance initiatives.
  • Advise clients on complex U.S. GAAP matters, including revenue recognition, lease accounting, stock-based compensation, debt and equity transactions, business combinations, consolidation, impairment analyses, and other highly technical accounting areas.
  • Review and approve technical accounting memoranda, accounting position papers, and financial statement disclosures.
  • Guide the adoption and implementation of new accounting standards and evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Support mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, carve-outs, purchase accounting, recapitalizations, and other strategic transactions.
  • Advise clients preparing for IPOs, public company readiness initiatives, and ongoing SEC reporting requirements.
  • Review registration statements, Forms 10-K, 10-Q, S-1, proxy statements, and other SEC filings.
  • Lead multiple concurrent engagements, ensuring high-quality execution, client satisfaction, profitability, and timely delivery.
  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships with CFOs, Controllers, private equity sponsors, venture capital investors, auditors, attorneys, and lending institutions.
  • Identify opportunities to expand client relationships and introduce additional advisory services.
  • Participate in proposal development, thought leadership initiatives, and business development activities that support practice growth.
  • Develop strategic referral relationships with private equity firms, investment bankers, attorneys, and audit partners.
  • Mentor and develop Senior Managers, Managers, and Consultants while fostering a culture of technical excellence and professional growth.
  • Support recruiting, performance management, succession planning, and leadership development initiatives across the practice.
  • Drive quality control, risk management, and adherence to professional standards across all engagements.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA required.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in public accounting, accounting advisory, transaction advisory, technical accounting, or financial reporting environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex client engagements and managing senior-level stakeholder relationships.
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, financial statement preparation, and accounting research.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple engagements simultaneously.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, and executive communication skills.
  • Ability to travel as necessary to support client and business needs.
Preferred
  • Big 4 or national advisory firm experience.
  • Experience serving publicly traded companies and private equity-backed organizations.
  • Significant exposure to IPO readiness, SEC reporting, capital markets transactions, and M&A activities.
  • Advanced understanding of financial reporting processes, internal controls, and accounting transformation initiatives.
  • Graduate degree or specialized certifications preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in business development, client expansion, and practice growth initiatives.

Base salary range is $225,000 - $300,000
