Role Overview

The Director of Accounting is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the organization’s accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls. This individual will lead the accounting team, ensuring the accuracy of financial information, the integrity of accounting processes, and compliance with all regulatory requirements. The Director of Accounting will support the company's financial strategy, provide insights to leadership, and drive continuous improvement within the accounting function.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead and manage the accounting team, including hiring, training, scheduling, mentoring, and performance evaluations.
  2. Oversee all accounting operations across multiple entities, including general ledger, inventory, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
  3. Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  4. Manage month-end and year-end closing processes.
  5. Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial report integrity.
  6. Prepare and present financial reports to executive leadership, including variance analysis and KPIs.
  7. Oversee tax compliance, including the preparation and filing of tax returns.
  8. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  9. Collaborate with leadership on financial strategies, budgeting, and forecasting.
  10. Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation.
  11. Maintain and communicate updated accounting policies and procedures.
  12. Stay current with changes in accounting standards and regulations.
Qualifications:
  1. Master's degree in Accounting.
  2. 8-10 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in leadership.
  3. Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting.
  4. Experience with ERP systems, financial software, and proficiency in Excel.
  5. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  7. High integrity and professionalism, with confidentiality.
  8. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  9. Experience in healthcare is a plus.
