Job Description

Director, Accounting Operations

We’re looking for a Director of Accounting Operations who thrives at the intersection of change leadership, systems thinking, and operational excellence. This individual will bring deep hands-on expertise across core Accounting Operations functions — including B2B collections, customer billing, and customer royalties/rebates — and will play a pivotal role in shaping and scaling these functions to support our growing global business. The ideal candidate is energized by solving complex problems, passionate about developing talent, and experienced in leading in a multi-currency, fast-paced environment. You’ll report to the Controller and work cross-functionally to drive improvements that fuel both customer satisfaction and financial health.

What you’ll do:

1. Partner with the Controller to shape and evolve the global Accounting Operations function, with a focus on talent development, team engagement, and strong leadership across functions
2. Build a high-performance culture by mentoring and developing managers and their teams, ensuring they are empowered, well-trained, and aligned with ABC’s values and business goals
3. Design and refine scalable processes that support business growth, enable strategic priorities, and deliver excellent customer and stakeholder experiences
4. Lead with a continuous improvement mindset: identify inefficiencies, evaluate tools and technologies, and drive automation and system enhancements wherever possible
5. Serve as a key liaison to Executive Leadership by delivering actionable insights, process metrics, and operational reporting to influence decision-making
6. Collaborate across departments (Finance, RevOps, Sales, Client Success, etc.) to ensure alignment on collections, billing cycles, issue resolution, and AR management
7. Establish and maintain SLAs and internal controls that enable a smooth month-end close and compliance with US GAAP and local statutory requirements
8. Support global audit processes and contribute to high-quality deliverables and timely responses
9. Lead Accounting Operations readiness and integration efforts for M&A activity
10. Directly lead 3 managers and provide strategic and developmental oversight for a broader global team of 10+ indirect reports

What you'll need:

• At least 10 years of demonstrated leadership experience in Accounting Operations, with a focus on global, multi-entity organizations
• Strong track record of developing high-performing teams and leading through change
• Experience building scalable, tech-enabled processes that drive accuracy, efficiency, and compliance, using a variety of cloud-based tools such as Salesforce, Chargebee, and Workday Financials
• Experience partnering with IT/Corporate Applications functions to establish and maintain robust automated processes
• Background in high-volume transaction industries, such as SaaS or payment processing
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills — able to influence without authority and foster alignment across diverse stakeholders
• Comfort navigating ambiguity and solving for both the urgent and the strategic
• A commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and accountable team culture

And it’s great to have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
• Experience with Workday Financials and Salesforce Billing
• Exposure to M&A activities, including integration of accounting operations
• Experience in a private equity-backed company
