Job summary

Catalyst HRE, a national healthcare real estate investment firm, seeks a Director of Accounting to lead the accounting and financial reporting for a diversified portfolio across healthcare real estate. This hands-on role blends technical accounting with team leadership to drive process improvements and financial integrity.

The director will oversee multiple entities, joint ventures, development projects, and treasury functions, delivering timely close processes and robust compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Active CPA license required.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• 5+ years of leadership experience managing accounting teams.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, general ledger accounting, month-end close, internal controls, and GAAP.
• Demonstrated success managing and developing accounting staff.
• Experience managing accounting within a multi-entity environment.
• Experience working directly with lenders, investors, equity partners, and external auditors.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of accounting professionals, fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy, scalability, and operational effectiveness.
• Serve as a key technical accounting resource for the organization and provide leadership support on complex accounting matters.
• Manage accounting and reporting for multiple joint venture entities and ownership structures.
• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting across multiple operating entities, development entities, holding companies, and joint venture structures.
• Oversee general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, accruals, fixed assets, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management activities.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, partnership agreements, debt agreements, and internal control requirements.
• Manage treasury functions across holding company, joint venture, and real estate entities, including cash transfers and pushdowns.
• Own distribution and cash flow management for the real estate portfolio, including distribution projections at the holding company and joint venture level.
• Coordinate directly with joint venture partners, equity partners, investors, and lenders regarding capital calls, funding requests, distributions, project reporting, and financial performance.
• Prepare and deliver quarterly presentations to holding company and joint venture stakeholders.
• Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning activities.
• Partner with development, asset management, acquisitions, and operations teams to support business objectives, investment decisions, and reporting needs.
• Support acquisitions, refinancings, dispositions, and other capital market transactions from an accounting and financial reporting perspective.

Job Description

Reporting to the SVP of Accounting, the Director of Accounting is responsible for leading the accounting and financial reporting functions for Catalyst's healthcare real estate investment, development, construction, and operating portfolio. The Director of Accounting will oversee accounting operations across multiple entities, development projects, and joint venture structures while ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting. This role serves as a key accounting leader supporting Catalyst's continued growth, investment activities, and strategic initiatives.

This is a hands‑on leadership role that combines technical accounting expertise, real estate industry knowledge, and team management. The Director of Accounting oversees financial reporting, development and construction accounting, joint venture accounting, internal controls, and accounting operations while leading and developing a team of accounting professionals. The successful candidate will be a collaborative leader who enjoys building strong teams, improving processes, supporting complex real estate transactions, and creating operational excellence within a growing organization.

What You'll Do

• Prepare a quarterly review of loan utilization and the need for any future adjustments.


• Coordinate and track all insurance renewals for development and construction projects.


• Oversee development and construction accounting activities, including project cost tracking, budget monitoring, capitalization, job cost reporting, and project financial analysis.


• Coordinate construction loan draws, lender funding requests, and lender reporting requirements.

Tax, Audit & Compliance

Provide oversight on all real estate tax matters across the portfolio.

Coordinate external assurance and tax activities for all real estate entities, holding companies and joint ventures.

Review and submit 1099 filings.

Review and submit quarterly debt covenant reporting and ensure compliance with debt covenants, loan agreements, and investor reporting obligations.

Assist in coordination of all property insurance renewals for the operating portfolio.

Qualifications

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.


• Active CPA license required.


• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience.


• 5+ years of leadership experience managing accounting teams.

• Experience managing capital calls, partner distributions, investor reporting, and lender reporting.


• Experience supporting acquisitions, dispositions, development projects, and financing transactions.


• Experience leading a team of five or more accounting professionals.


• Experience with Yardi or similar real estate accounting/ERP systems.


• Experience supporting external audits and coordinating with tax advisors.


• Public accounting experience preferred.
