Job summary

Marine Credit Union seeks a strategic Director of Accounting to lead the accounting function, strengthen financial controls, and support the organization’s growth. Reporting to the CFO, you will drive accurate financial reporting across the enterprise and its subsidiaries while building a high-performing team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA designation preferred.
• 5-10 years of progressive accounting and leadership experience.
• Comprehensive knowledge of accounting regulations, standards, and best practices.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
• Proven ability to lead teams, drive results, and implement process improvements.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Leading all accounting operations and financial reporting activities.
• Producing accurate financial statements and evaluating accounting data.
• Managing the annual external financial audit process.
• Overseeing monthly financial close activities and quarterly Call Report preparation.
• Developing, enhancing, and enforcing accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Providing technical accounting guidance related to GAAP, regulatory matters, and organizational initiatives.
• Supporting merger and acquisition activities, including accounting conversions and financial analysis.
• Supervising federal, state, and local tax reporting requirements.
• Partnering with leaders across the organization to achieve financial objectives and improve processes.
• Building, coaching, mentoring, and developing a high-performing accounting team through succession planning, delegation, and professional development efforts.
