Job summary

BSI is seeking a Director of Accounting to lead the organization’s accounting operations in Cincinnati/Mason, OH, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and strong internal controls. You will supervise staff, drive timely financial reporting, and partner with leadership to support strategic decisions.

The ideal candidate combines hands-on leadership with technical expertise in GAAP, budgeting, audits, and process improvements, while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • CPA and/or Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Experience with GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, audits, internal controls, and process improvement.
  • ERP system experience required.
  • Deltek Vantagepoint experience preferred.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Office Suite skills.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proven leadership and team development experience.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong communication and business partnership abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Oversee the monthly close process, financial statements, reconciliations, and general ledger activity.
  • Monitor financial performance and provide analysis of results, forecasts, budgets, and key business metrics.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain effective financial controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage cash flow, payroll funding requirements, and treasury-related activities.
  • Ensure payroll funding and oversee payroll related reconciliations, accounting entries and financial controls.
  • Support administration and continuous improvement of the Deltek Vantagepoint ERP system.
  • Oversee fixed assets, accounts receivable risk management, and collection activities.
  • Manage tax filings, regulatory compliance, business registrations, and related reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate annual audits, tax preparation, 401(k) audits, and relationships with external CPA firms.
  • Administer and support BSI's Shareholder Program, including shareholder transactions, distributions, and stock valuation activities.
  • Facilitate the annual budgeting process and support incentive compensation programs.

Salary: $140,000.00 Annually

Position Summary

The Director of Accounting is responsible for leading BSI’s accounting operations while ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and effectiveness of the company’s financial processes. This role oversees financial reporting, budgeting support, cash management, compliance activities, payroll oversight, and internal controls while leading a team of accounting staff. The role reports to the Vice President of Business Operations and directly manages a team Accounting Specialists, Billing Specialists and Accounts Payable staff.

As a key business partner, the Director of Accounting works closely with leadership across the organization to provide financial insights, improve processes, support strategic decision‑making, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. This position plays an important checks‑and‑balances role within the organization, helping safeguard the accuracy of financial information and ensuring sound financial stewardship.

The ideal candidate is a strategic yet hands‑on accounting leader who enjoys developing people, improving processes, and driving organizational success. They combine strong technical accounting expertise with excellent communication and leadership skills.
