Job summary

Hunt Companies, Inc. seeks a Director of Accounting in El Paso, TX to lead the accounting team, manage monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting for military housing PPP properties, ensure GAAP compliance, and coordinate audits with external auditors.

The role requires staying current with FASB ASUs, preparing annual budgets with senior finance leaders, and partnering with Property Management and Asset Management to ensure timely, accurate financial statements and cash flow analysis.

Responsibilities

• Prepares, compiles, and provides related analysis to support monthly loan draws and financial reporting packages for submittal to business partners. Reviews reporting packages to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements, ensures unusual variances are analyzed and investigated, and discrepancies are resolved promptly. Coordinates, reviews, and distributes reports for senior management and other departments.
• Assists in updating and maintaining project proformas using monthly data and inputs from other internal parties to assist in projections, as assigned.
• Provides accurate and timely review and completion of the annual audits of a portfolio of military housing PPP properties:
• Leads team in the preparation of the year-end financial statements and footnotes, updating the footnotes for all relevant disclosures, including new disclosures required by Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Stays current with the latest Accounting Standards Updates (ASUs) issued by the FASB and incorporates the impact of the latest ASUs into the financial statements and footnotes.
• Leads team in the accurate and timely preparation of "Prepared by Client" work papers required by the auditors.
• Collaborates with auditors during both interim and final audit sessions to ensure that all questions and review comments are addressed promptly.
• Meets the internal deadlines that are set by the Corporate Accounting group for the completion of the audits for the military housing PPP properties, and which is earlier than the contractual deadline date of the military branches, so as to not delay the preparation of Hunt Companies, Inc.'s audited financial statements.
• Provides accurate and timely review and completion of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages to the military branches of a portfolio of military housing PPP properties:
• Leads team in the preparation of the financial reporting packages.
• Coordinates with Property Management and Asset Management to ensure timely and accurate delivery.
• Reviews and approves variance analysis for the military branches and answers all questions from the military, Hunt Asset Management, and other internal and external requests.
• Partners with Hunt Property Management for all matters related to the properties:
• Assists in the preparation of annual budgets
• Collaborates with the Senior Director of Accounting, HMC, Controller, HMC, and Internal Reporting in all matters related to the military housing PPP properties so that each portfolio is accounted for and reported consistently across the entire Hunt portfolio.
• Works with Hunt Corporate Accounting for monthly, quarterly, and year-end consolidation issues, including intercompany reconciliation.
• Prepares and provides Hunt Corporate Accounting prospective fee and cash flow projection data to assist in Hunt Corporate debt coverage analysis, as applicable.
• Accounts for all complex accounting transactions related to the military housing properties:
• Debt and equity, including military ownership.

A Brief Overview

The Director of Accounting is responsible for managing the collection and recording of all pertinent financial data and transactions; hiring, training, and management of accounting staff; and assisting with budget preparation and other financial functions. This position may be tasked with training and mentoring other accountants during the implementation of new initiatives and of global communication of processes and procedures affecting the department.
