The candidate will oversee multiple operational teams and shape finance best practices, controls, and systems across the firm’s global footprint. The ideal candidate is a critically‑thinking, highly organized, and proactive leader with exceptional judgment, deep professional‑services experience, and the ability to operate in a fast‑paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain firm‑wide accounting policies and internal controls that scale across jurisdictions.
  • Ensure accounting operations align with strategic objectives, risk appetite, and compliance requirements.
  • Drive initiatives that elevate financial and operational efficiency, reduce risk, and improve decision quality.
  • Oversee partner accounts for distributions, withholdings, capital, and profit analysis; safeguard accuracy and transparency.
  • Manage federal, state, local, and international tax compliance; coordinate advisors as needed.
  • Ensure timely preparation and distribution of Schedule K‑1s and quarterly tax estimates for partners.
  • Direct monthly close and the preparation of consolidated financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow).
  • Oversee partner capital accounts and reporting for management and external stakeholders.
  • Manage cash‑flow projections, liquidity planning, and working‑capital optimization.
  • Coordinate external audits; manage auditor relationships and remediation of findings.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting and finance teams; set clear goals, service levels, and quality standards.
  • Champion modern financial systems, automation tools, and data governance practices.
  • Build strong cross‑functional relationships with Legal Operations, HR, IT, Practice Management, and office leaders; create alignment and shared ownership of finance initiatives.
  • Represent the CFO with professionalism in high‑level meetings with senior partners, board members, and external stakeholders.
  • Lead special projects at the direction of the Firm Chair, Firm Vice Chair, or CFO; perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, CPA, or other relevant advanced credential strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance leadership, ideally in a law firm or professional‑services environment.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex, multi‑office operations and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Audit management, internal control design, and trust accounting (IOLTA) oversight experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Elite 3E (or similar) and Power BI is advantageous.
  • Executive presence and influence; able to credibly represent the CFO and guide initiatives.
  • Strong project management and prioritization; adaptable to shifting priorities and deadlines.
  • Unwavering confidentiality and sound judgment in advising the CFO and firm leadership.
