Job summary

Homrich, Klein & Associates seeks a Director of Accounting to support the Controller in managing daily accounting operations and the month-end close process. This hands-on role requires maintaining accurate financial records, preparing journal entries, and supporting AP/AR activities while ensuring GAAP compliance.

The successful candidate will oversee reconciliations, assist with audits, and help drive process improvements in accounting systems and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP and month-end close.

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly account reconciliations for cash, A/R, A/P, prepaid expenses, accruals, fixed assets and other balance sheet accounts.
• Assist with month-end, quarterly, and year-end close activities.
• Prepare schedules and documentation for balance sheet accounts and external auditors.
• Support intercompany reconciliations and allocations.
• Maintain monthly bank reconciliations and assist with financial statements.
• Assist with preparation of financial reporting and audit requests.
• Identify process improvements to enhance controls and efficiency.
• Support tax and other compliance-related requests as needed.

Founded with a vision to deliver exceptional value, our client is an industry leader seeking a Director of Accounting to support the Controller in managing the Company's day-to-day accounting operations and month-end close process. This is a hands-on role responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, completing account reconciliations, preparing journal entries, supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, and assisting with financial reporting and audit requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform monthly account reconciliations, including cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, prepaid expenses, accruals, fixed assets, and other balance sheet accounts.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.
• Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for balance sheet accounts.
• Assist with intercompany reconciliations and allocations.
• Prepare and maintain monthly bank reconciliations.
• Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Prepare schedules and supporting documentation requested by external auditors.
• Assist with audit requests and research historical accounting transactions as needed.
• Support the Controller with tax and other compliance-related requests.
• Maintain organized documentation to support the Company's financial records and internal controls.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and efficiencies.
• Assist with implementation of new systems, processes, and reporting requirements.

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience,
• Hands on experience with Sage Intacct.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP and general accounting principles and month end close.
• Strong Excel skills and experience working with accounting systems.
• Experience with AP, AR, accruals, journal entries, and bank reconciliations.
• Experience with intercompany accounting is preferred.
