Job summary

Zekelman Industries is seeking a Director of 5S & Workplace Organization to lead an enterprise-wide 5S program across steel pipe and tube manufacturing facilities. You will develop strategy, governance, training, auditing, and implementation roadmaps, driving safety, productivity, quality, and engagement.

The role requires hands-on change leadership, extensive North America travel, and a proven track record in industrial manufacturing environments with Lean knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, Industrial Technology, or related field.
• 10+ years of manufacturing, operational excellence, lean manufacturing, industrial engineering, or continuous improvement experience.
• Proven success designing and implementing formal 5S programs in complex manufacturing environments.
• Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Experience leading large-scale operational change initiatives.
• Ability to influence leaders and drive results without direct authority.
• Excellent facilitation, coaching, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to travel extensively throughout North America.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise 5S strategy and governance across facilities.
• Audit methodologies, maturity models, and documentation ownership.
• Develop and deploy 5S tools, training, and certification pathways.
• Create multi-year roadmap for workplace organization across the network.
• Collaborate with plant leadership to implement 5S initiatives across manufacturing, maintenance, warehousing, shipping, receiving, lab, and office.
• Facilitate kaizen events, improvement workshops, and workplace organization initiatives.
• Coach leaders and frontline teams on 5S, visual management, and sustainable behaviors.
• Conduct site assessments, audits, and reviews to ensure progress and accountability.
