Job summary

Alabama Board Of Nursing seeks a Director of Nursing – Director I to lead the Nursing Department under the Executive Director and exercise independent judgement in enforcing laws and rules governing nursing education programs and licensure examinations.

The ideal candidate is a licensed RN with a master's degree (doctorate preferred) and extensive regulatory and administrative experience, capable of strategic planning, policy development, and effective communication with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Licensed RN in nursing board domain
• Master's in nursing required/anticipated
• Doctorate preferred or ongoing
• Leadership, teaching, curriculum experience
• Understanding of licensure and examination processes
• Strong ethical standards and integrity
• Proven administrative experience
• Ability to interpret nursing laws and rules
• Excellent communication with stakeholders
• Ability to supervise and train staff

Responsibilities

• Direct Nursing Department under Executive Director
• Develop goals, objectives, budgets, and performance reports
• Hire train and develop Nursing staff
• Collaborate with other departments for annual planning
• Lead committees to review rules and policies
• Communicate with board members and public
• Monitor health-related trends impacting policy
• Prepare formal reports for the Board
• Advise on education, examination and practice standards
• Travel within the state as required
