Job description

New Business Director (Agency) — New York

Eight years in, our client—a leading creative and production agency—has built something genuinely rare. They are an established, highly profitable business with 80 people and an impressive client roster that any agency in the country would be proud of. They built this without a traditional marketing budget, growing almost entirely through high-value referrals.

To reach their next major growth milestone, they are hiring a New York–based sales leader to help build a structured commercial engine in the US. This is not a "keep the lights on" sales role—it is a foundational hire for the next chapter of the agency's expansion.

The Role

Sitting at the center of commercial growth in the US, your primary focus will be to strengthen and organize the agency's referral ecosystem, expand its presence in the New York market, and bring structure and momentum to the pipeline and pitch process. You will work closely with the CEO, CCO, and senior leadership team to turn strong relationships into a predictable growth engine.

What You Will Do

Build and Organize the Referral Network

  • Map and systematize existing referral relationships across clients, alumni, partners, and vendors.
  • Identify high-potential partners and create structured outreach and follow-up plans.
  • Own relationship tracking and touchpoints within CRM and sales engagement tools.
  • Turn strong professional relationships into an active, managed network.

Own US Market Presence

  • Represent the agency locally in New York City.
  • Organize and host targeted events with key vendor and brand partners.
  • Establish presence in key decision-making settings and elevate brand visibility in the US market.

Drive Pipeline Discipline

  • Maintain and manage overall pipeline hygiene.
  • Support outbound business development efforts.
  • Ensure every opportunity is properly tracked, qualified, and moved forward.
  • Bring clear visibility and reporting to commercial activity.

Move Pitches Across the Finish Line

  • Coordinate internally to ensure pitch materials are delivered on time.
  • Keep internal teams accountable to key deadlines.
  • Shape timelines and manage deliverables throughout the pitch process.
  • Reduce friction between commercial ambition and operational execution.
Who This Role Is For

You might be a fit if:

  • You are highly organized and enjoy building structure where none currently exists.
  • You are comfortable leading conversations with senior decision-makers.
  • You understand that relationship-driven sales is about trust, quality, and consistency rather than volume outreach.
  • You are excited by the idea of building a company's commercial engine from the ground up.
  • You are experienced in utilizing modern CRM systems and outbound sales intelligence tools.
Why This Role Matters

The agency has proven its capability to deliver exceptional work. The challenge now is building predictability. By establishing a structured, New York–based commercial presence and a disciplined pipeline process, this role will directly unlock the agency's next stage of growth.
