Job summary

Maximus is seeking a Director - Network Engineer to lead network strategy, architecture, and delivery for a remote role. The position requires guiding Network Operations, Engineering, and Architecture teams to meet objectives with on-time and within-budget execution.

You will mentor a high-performing team, champion automation and DevOps, and drive modernization across public, private, and hybrid clouds while strengthening security and reducing technical debt.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• 10+ years of professional experience.
• Experience leading and developing teams of high-performing engineering professionals in complex enterprise environments.
• Strong understanding of modern enterprise networking architectures, resiliency design, site reliability engineering (SRE), security, observability, and performance optimization.
• Practical experience supporting public cloud, private cloud, and hybrid cloud environments with working knowledge of AWS, Azure, and other enterprise cloud platforms.
• Knowledge of automation, DevOps, Agile, infrastructure-as-code, and cloud-native networking concepts.
• Working knowledge of WAN, LAN, Wireless, Routing, Switching, Security, Firewalls, Authentication, SD-WAN, SASE, NAC, and network monitoring platforms.
• Strong understanding of ITIL processes and service management principles, including SLAs and operational metrics.
• Experience translating network strategy into scalable, enterprise-wide solutions and operational outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the execution of the network services strategy and roadmap, ensuring network capabilities support business objectives, technology modernization initiatives, and operational excellence.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and strategic direction to a team of high-performing network engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure the successful delivery of network services initiatives, programs, and projects within established timelines and budget expectations.
• Monitor service performance and key operational metrics, driving continuous improvements in reliability, resiliency, security, and customer experience.
• Champion automation, Agile, DevOps, and infrastructure-as-code methodologies to improve quality, efficiency, scalability, and speed of delivery.
• Lead the evolution of network technologies and platforms to drive innovation, strengthen security, reduce technical debt, and support cloud-first business strategies.
• Establish and maintain repeatable processes, standards, governance, and best practices that ensure consistent delivery of high-quality network services.
• Partner with business and technology stakeholders to align network capabilities with current and future business requirements.
• Develop talent through coaching, mentoring, workforce planning, succession planning, and career development activities to build and sustain a high-performing engineering organization.
• Drive adoption of modern networking practices across public cloud, private cloud, hybrid cloud, and emerging enterprise technologies.
