Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced engineering leader to own network capacity end to end—from planning and delivery to turn-up and lifecycle. You will build and scale the organization responsible for capacity automation and hire, develop and retain engineers and leaders.

You will set a multi-year technical strategy for capacity automation, convert manual processes into durable software, and partner across teams to align roadmaps and forecasts.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of engineering management experience.
• Proven track record building and scaling mission-critical cloud connectivity.
• Software engineering background with production systems experience.
• Familiarity designing, building, scaling and operating large-scale networks.
• Familiarity with distributed systems and large-scale networking services.
• Strong automation skills and track record accelerating delivery velocity.

Job description

Own network capacity end to end, including planning, delivery, turn-up and lifecycle
Be accountable for capacity landing ahead of customer demand
Build and lead the organization responsible for network capacity automation
Hire, develop and retain engineers and engineering leaders; design team structure as the organization grows
Set the multi-year technical strategy for capacity automation
Convert manual processes into durable software and build a capacity pipeline that runs without heroics
Own operational standards for planning, reviewing, shipping, measuring and learning from capacity work
Manage through leads and senior individual contributors through 1:1s, performance feedback, growth planning and sponsorship
Partner with the Interconnect team on external connectivity
Partner with Principal Engineers and technical leadership on design, code quality and operational reliability
Partner with Infrastructure, Supply Chain, Data Center Operations, Product and Finance on roadmaps, demand forecasting and long-lead dependencies
Represent the organization's work and technical direction to senior leadership, enterprise customers and partners
Contribute to organization-wide engineering process improvements
Report to the VP of Cloud and AI Networking

Requirements

• 8+ years of engineering management experience, including directly managing senior individual contributors
• Proven track record of building and scaling engineering organizations that deliver mission-critical, high-performance cloud connectivity serving millions of users
• Software engineering background with production systems experience and ability to engage on architecture, technical tradeoffs, and code quality
• Familiarity designing, building, scaling and operating large-scale networks
• Familiarity with distributed systems and large-scale networking services
• Strong automation skills and track record accelerating business delivery velocity on a large scale
• Track record of building high-performing teams in fast-moving, technically demanding environments
• Ability to translate ambiguous business and product goals into clear team priorities and executable engineering plans
• Strong judgment about when to go deep technically, delegate, and raise
• Track record of successful project and product delivery in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Ability and willingness to work onsite at the Bellevue or San Francisco office 4 days a week
• Legally authorized to work in the United States
• Nice to have: experience in GPU cloud, HPC, or AI/ML infrastructure environments
• Nice to have: deep familiarity with large-scale data center or cloud networking, fabric build-out, capacity modelling, or network supply chain
• Nice to have: experience with infrastructure capacity forecasting and long-lead hardware planning
• Nice to have: prior experience at a high-growth infrastructure or cloud company
