DIRECTOR, MEDICAL STRATEGY

Day One Biopharmaceuticals is an emerging, mission-driven, drug development company focused on identifying, evaluating, and commercializing novel treatments for pediatric oncology patients, with the goal of expanding these benefits to patients of all ages. Position Summary

The Director of Medical Strategy will be a key leader within the Medical Affairs team, responsible for developing and executing core Medical Affairs strategies supporting the development and commercialization of OJEMDATM. This leader will oversee Medical Affairs initiatives, contribute to brand planning as part of the OJEMDATM brand team, and report to the Vice President of Medical Affairs.

This role can be fully remote with travel requirements of up to 20-30% for conferences and meetings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Develop Medical Affairs Strategy for OJEMDATM in collaboration with the VP, Medical Affairs.
  2. Represent Medical Affairs on the brand team, providing leadership on cross-functional strategies and aligning scientific messaging.
  3. Lead the creation and maintenance of scientific communication platforms and narratives, ensuring strategic alignment on data interpretation and external communication.
  4. Manage the development of scientific exchange materials, including SRLs, FAQs, and MSL materials, aligned with scientific messaging.
  5. Plan and execute KOL engagement strategies and insights gathering to inform brand and evidence strategies.
  6. Lead advisory board activities, including content development and presentations to gather insights and inform strategies.
  7. Synthesize insights from field teams, advisory boards, and congresses to inform strategy.
  8. Oversee congress planning, content development, and representation at scientific meetings.
  9. Train MSLs on scientific exchange materials.
  10. Manage escalation processes related to Medical Legal Regulatory reviews.
  11. Manage, mentor, and develop Medical Affairs team members, fostering a collaborative culture.
  12. Ensure compliance with regulatory, legal, and ethical standards.
  13. Stay informed on trends in oncology, competitive intelligence, and stakeholder needs.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, MD) in a scientific or medical discipline.
  • At least 10+ years in Medical Affairs or related roles within biopharmaceuticals, with a minimum of 5 years in oncology.
  • Experience in Medical Affairs strategy, including oncology product launches.
  • Proven record in scientific communications, evidence generation, and KOL engagement.
  • Leadership experience in managing high-performing teams.
  • Deep understanding of the US healthcare system, oncology landscape, and regulatory environment.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills across Commercial, Clinical, and Regulatory teams.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of medical content development, congress planning, and advisory board execution.
