Job description

Alzheon, Inc. is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing a broad portfolio of product candidates and diagnostic assays for patients suffering from Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative disorders. We are committed to developing innovative medicines by directly addressing the underlying pathology of devastating neurodegenerative disorders. Our lead Alzheimer's clinical candidate, ALZ-801 , is an oral agent in Phase 3 development as a potentially disease modifying treatment for AD. ALZ-801 is an oral small molecule that fully blocks formation of neurotoxic soluble amyloid oligomers in the brain. Our clinical expertise and technology platform are focused on developing drug candidates and diagnostic assays using a precision medicine approach based on individual genetic and biomarker information to advance therapies with the greatest impact for patients.

Our experienced and passionate drug development team is focused on applying precision medicine, cutting-edge disease biomarkers, brain imaging and unique biologic insights to advance therapies with the greatest impact for patients. We are seeking individuals with an entrepreneurial spirit to join our team and help make the first oral Alzheimer's disease-modifying therapy a reality for patients and their families, in a few short years.

Position Overview

Alzheon is seeking a physician informatician to serve as Director, Medical Informatics, bridging clinical judgment, trial informatics, and advanced analytics inside our Data & AI organization. You will work directly with clinical trial data across efficacy, safety, cognitive, functional, biomarker, imaging, and operational sources, keeping technology, data, and operations grounded in clinical reality.

This is not a traditional medical monitor position. It is a technical, data-intensive role for an MD who is genuinely comfortable in the datasets and who can partner with Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, Data Management, Biostatistics, Regulatory, and AI colleagues to turn medical, operational, and regulatory questions into governed data, reproducible analyses, and decision support people actually use.

This is a hands-on role for someone who is comfortable moving between scientific, clinical, regulatory, and technical teams, who holds a high bar for data integrity, and who would rather get into the details than manage from a distance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret efficacy, safety, cognitive, functional, biomarker, imaging, and operational data
  • Provide medical judgment when emerging data signals require clinical context, interfacing with the broader medical, clinical and leadership teams to extract the right data and drive the right decisions
  • Partner on endpoint definitions, subgroup analyses, and interpretation of treatment effects
  • Define clinically meaningful data models, derived variables, and metadata across study sources
  • Map protocol concepts and clinical questions to source data, SDTM, ADaM, and analysis outputs
  • Identify implausible values, inconsistent definitions, missing context, and reconciliation issues
  • Develop screening, eligibility, enrollment, retention, site-performance, and patient-journey analytics
  • Translate clinical questions into AI use cases and review model outputs for clinical plausibility
  • Support predictive and longitudinal modeling using multimodal clinical trial data
  • Contribute to regulatory-grade analyses, integrated summaries, briefing materials, health-authority responses, and inspection readiness
Requirements
  • MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree
  • Clinical research or drug-development experience with direct exposure to clinical trial data
  • Strong understanding of protocol design, endpoints, safety review, and clinical data collection
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clinicians, data managers, statisticians, programmers, and engineers
Preferred Qualifications
  • Training in biomedical informatics, computational biology, bioinformatics, epidemiology, or data science
  • Familiarity with EDC, CDISC SDTM/ADaM, SQL, Python, R, or SAS

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, or veteran status.
