Job summary

Walmart is seeking a Director of Energy – Mechanical Infrastructure Engineering to lead mechanical and thermal infrastructure across stores, clubs, and facilities. The role delivers scalable, reliable designs for cooling, HVAC, hydronics, and related systems, partnering with Energy, Engineering, Construction, Facilities, Procurement, and external partners.

Qualifications

• Experience designing or governing complex mechanical and thermal infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, cooling, hydronic, pumps, piping, and related systems.
• Experience evaluating capacity, reliability, redundancy, and major upgrades.
• Experience with large-scale, mission-critical thermal infrastructure.
• Experience leading Engineers of Record and cross-functional teams.
• Working knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, building, fire, and energy codes.

Responsibilities

• Assess site mechanical and thermal infrastructure for capacity, constraints, upgrades, and feasibility.
• Serve as technical authority for cooling, HVAC, hydronic, plumbing, heat-rejection, controls, and related systems.
• Establish basis-of-design, engineering standards, specifications, reference designs, and acceptance criteria.
• Develop scalable solutions balancing capacity, reliability, resiliency, efficiency, safety, cost, schedule, and growth.
• Direct engineering performed by Engineers of Record, consultants, contractors, and equipment vendors.
• Lead technical decisions from feasibility through commissioning and turnover.
• Incorporate field lessons learned into future designs and standards.
• Build the partner ecosystem and engineering governance required to scale.
