Job summary

Harvard University’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) Major Gifts team seeks a Director to lead a regional program in the Boston area. You will mentor gift officers, set strategy, and coordinate with AA&D and FAS colleagues to secure multi-million gifts and drive donor engagement.

You will manage staff, develop annual regional plans, and advance capital, endowment and current-use campaigns while collaborating across university partners and committees. Hybrid work and travel are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum of 10 years of development or related transferable skills.
• Previous management of frontline fundraisers required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of Major Gifts officers in the Boston region.
• Develop and implement an annual regional fundraising plan aligned with FAS priorities.
• Coordinate prospect management, donor engagement, and strategy with AA&D and FAS partners.
• Travel approximately 10% for external visits and relationship building.
• Ensure staff training, goal setting, and evaluation to maximize six-, seven-, and eight-figure gifts.
