The program director will lead strategic planning, curriculum development, budget management, and accreditation activities. Teaching three courses per semester while actively participating in recruitment, faculty development, and service is expected.

Qualifications

Summary of Responsibilities:

The program directorwill lead and coordinate strategic planning and curriculumdevelopment for the Department of Counseling, manage the budget andoperations, evaluate faculty and staff performance, coordinateaccreditation and program approval initiatives. This role alsorequires that the Counselor Educator be the track coordinator forthe clinical mental health counseling program. The successfulcandidate will teach three courses per semester during the academicyear, provide service to the university, community and profession,actively participate in student recruitment, support faculty growthand development opportunities.

Essential Responsibilities: (

Teach nine contact hours per semester.Adequately prepare allcourse materials and lessons (Note: preparation time will varybased on instructor experience in teaching thatcourse).Provide each student with clear course expectations,evaluations, and timelines through carefully written topicaloutlines and approved syllabus per faculty establishedguidelines.Provide interesting and relevant assignments forstudents that demonstrate learning outcomes in a real-lifesetting.Suitably challenge, engage, support, and communicatewith students to encourage their participation and learning whilemaintaining mutual value and respect.Provide timely grades tostudents through college software and upload mid-term and finalgrades by college deadlines.Respond to student questions on atimely basis.

Specific Responsibilities:

Program DirectorIn any case, where degree programs are in professional areas controlled by accreditation, license,certification, or any other professional or educational standard,the program director mustidentify clearly to itsstudents the program’s compliance (or lack of compliance) to thosestandards and the extent to which the program and/or the program’sgraduates meet professional standards.Determines whether astudent can be accepted with provisional admittance. In addition,the program director receives and judges appeals to negativeadmissions decisions.Communicates work assignments to facultyemployed in the program, including any program-specific conditionsof employment.Assists the Assistant Director of GraduateAdmissions in determining enrollment targets for theprogram.Participate in recruiting activities for the programincluding but not limited to Information Sessions, Open Houses,Campus Visits etc. Promote the program externally.Maintain anindependent budget that clearly and accurately identifies allrevenues and costs for the program.Clinical Mental HealthTrack CoordinationOversee the specialty curriculum involving theClinical Mental Health track in accordance with most recent Councilfor the Accreditation of Counseling Related Programs(CACREP).Participate in recruiting activities.AdviseClinical Mental Health students.Develop and maintain fieldplacement sites for practicum and internships for the ClinicalMentalHealth students.Review degree candidacyapplications

Qualifications:

Minimum:

Education/Certification: A Ph.D. or Ed.D.in Counselor Education.

Must be license eligible in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Experience: Experience in the Clinical Mental Health field. Leadership and administrative experience.

Skill/Abilities: An aptitude forteaching and supervision. A demonstrated record of research andinvolvement in the counseling profession is expected. Musthave a working knowledge of CACREP accreditation.

Christian Commitment: An eligible candidate must be a thoughtful andarticulate Christian and an active member of a Protestantevangelical Christian church. Preference will be given to thecandidate who supports and has an articulate understanding of theReformed faith. An eligible candidate must understand and supportthe College’s "Foundational Concepts of Christian Education" byexpressing an evangelical Christian profession of faith anddemonstrate the ability to integrate a Christian perspective intheir work.

Preferred:

Preference will be given to candidates who have teaching and leadership experience in highereducation, have completed their doctorate by the time of hiring,and have expertise in the clinical mental healtharea(s).

Education/Certification: An earned doctorate from a CACREP accredited program.

Experience: Previous higher education experience; Classroom and online teaching experience; Academic administrative experience; Creativityin teaching and program development isdesirable.

Skill/Abilities: A strong record ofscholarly productivity.
