Job summary

Sentara Health Plan is seeking a Director of Sales, Large Group to lead a high‑performing team in a remote Virginia role with about 25% travel within the state. The position focuses on growth, profitability, and strategic engagement with key decision makers.

You will guide the large group new business sales team, develop market strategy, negotiate complex proposals, and partner with executives, consultants, and brokers to advance Sentara’s capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 10+ years consultative sales and leadership experience.
• Experience in large employer market and complex proposals.
• Ability to present to senior executives (C-suite) and negotiate.

Responsibilities

• Achieve growth, profitability and strategic engagement goals.
• Communicate with executives, consultants, brokers, HR and benefit professionals.
• Develop and manage large group strategic growth plan.
• Manage strategic opportunities via direct and matrix relationships.
• Provide market landscape and voice of the customer input.
• Use metrics to measure performance and identify opportunities.
• Articulate Sentara Health Plans capabilities to constituents.
• Manage complex negotiations.
• Establish best practices for broker/consultant and customer engagement.
