Job summary

Veracyte is seeking a Director of Laboratory and Pathology to oversee South San Francisco operations, ensuring accurate, timely diagnostic services with expert histology oversight. The role requires CA-licensed MD/DO/DPM, AP board certification, and Molecular Pathology fellowship.

The position is onsite, Tue–Sat, with opportunities to lead cross-functional teams and advance laboratory quality, safety, and regulatory adherence across pre-analytic to post-analytic stages.

Qualifications

• MD/DO/DPM licensed in California with AP board certification.
• Fellowship in Molecular Pathology required.
• NY Certificate of Qualification in Oncology/Molecular Tumor Markers required.
• 10+ years in CAP/CLIA-accredited or NY-licensed laboratory.
• Schedule Tue-Sat to support South San Francisco operations.

Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee laboratory operations delivering high-quality diagnostic services.
• Provide medical/scientific oversight of histology workflows.
• Review H&E slides for diagnostic/molecular testing.
• Ensure CLIA, CAP, NY state regulatory compliance.
• Lead inspections and address findings.
• Oversee pre-analytic to post-analytic processes and testing systems.
• Ensure proficiency testing, QC, QA, and corrective actions.
• Mentor leaders and staff; delegate while maintaining accountability.
• Monitor performance, turnaround, budget, safety, and equipment.
• Lead adoption of new technologies and process improvements.
