Job summary

The E.W. Scripps Company is seeking a Director of Journalism Strategies to lead journalism education programs and philanthropic initiatives for the Scripps Howard Fund and Foundation.

This national role builds partnerships with journalism educators, funders, and industry leaders to expand program impact. You will direct grantmaking, monitor outcomes, and provide strategic recommendations to advance the profession and diversify revenue sources.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• 8+ years in journalism, journalism education, philanthropy, fundraising, program leadership or related fields.
• Prior people management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of journalism education programs and philanthropic initiatives.
• Build strategic partnerships with journalism organizations, academic institutions, funders and industry leaders.
• Serve as a recognized leader on journalism education and philanthropy trends.
• Develop and implement innovative initiatives to support current and future journalists.
• Represent the Fund and Foundation in associations, conferences and partnerships.
• Develop fundraising and donor engagement strategies to diversify revenue.
• Direct journalism grantmaking activities and assess outcomes.
• Monitor program and grant performance and provide recommendations.
• Oversee journalism programs and initiatives including awards and internships.
• Lead the journalism education team with strategic direction and coaching.
• Prepare board reports and present outcomes and recommendations.
