Summary
The Director, JHS Nursing and CFNE Operations will support nursing, clinical, and operational initiatives to develop an integrated health system. The Director oversees nursing operations and initiatives of Jackson's hospitals, skilled nursing homes, long term care facilities, multispecialty clinics, urgent care centers, and corrections health. The Director leads efforts to operationalize all lines of work within the Center for Nursing Excellence plan. This may include administrative oversight, organizing, directing, and evaluating the work objectives to ensure the execution of the department's overall mission.
Responsibilities
- Supports nursing, clinical, and operational initiatives to develop an integrated Nursing system.
- Leads efforts to operationalize all lines of work within the CNE and CFNE plan.
- Responsible for the day-to-day management and administration of the CFNE Department.
- Anticipates and follows through with stakeholders to execute and sustain initiatives.
- Implements change management principles as required for initiatives to be adopted and sustained.
- Supports and advances J35 workstreams which affect CNE and CFNE.
- Builds relationships with key stakeholders including UM faculty to support nursing alignment and engagement. Participates in the CNO Council meetings to align team on key actions and follow-up items.
- Performs analysis of current market to determine demand for services and identify program opportunities for new/expanded hospital programs and healthcare services.
- Makes recommendations to corporate and hospital leadership on key strategic and tactical decisions in the preservation, development, and growth of Nursing Services of current / new service lines and market-based strategies.
- Works collaboratively with all levels of senior leadership to support the annual review and facilitation of the system and hospital entity planning processes, staffs planning processes including assisting in an initiative to support nursing leadership.
- Generates summary reports addressing key program and operational indicators, and the financial impact on strategic goals.
- Provides feasibility analysis, return on investment, and implementation plans for new programs and services.
- Provides support on marketing and business development initiatives to meet specific needs and objectives of facilities and individual departments, including nursing relations and community outreach.
- Responsible for analysis, reviews procedures, and work flows for optimization to the overall Nursing initiatives.
- Builds strong cross-functional relationships with key hospital leaders, management teams and internal departments to carry out key projects and works collaboratively to drive successful completion of tactical and strategic initiatives.
- In collaboration with other key hospital leaders, ensures alignment and integration of hospital and corporate resources around the facility and corporate strategic business plans, including the projection of capital, operating, information technology, and human resources needs.
- Undertakes and leads special projects at the request of executive leadership. Presents data to various levels of the organization's leadership in a conscientious, understandable, and timely format to be utilized for key decision-making.
- Generates monthly reports incorporating accomplishments for each CFNE director.
- Supports and facilitates NDNQI, Magnet, and Pathway project and journey
- Informs executive leadership on the status of operations and provide support in developing and implementing long-range strategic and cooperation plans which support the JHS philosophy and mission statement.
- Recommends changes in long-range policies and strategies of the hospital as appropriate.
- The leader understands and adheres to JHS compliance standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct, Compliance Policies, and all other JHS Policies and Procedures and supports the commitment of JHS in adhering to federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations governing ethical business practices for health care providers by demonstrating knowledge of procedures for protecting and maintaining security, confidentiality and integrity of employee, patient, family and organization information.
- The leader further understands that JHS is committed to its role in preventing health care fraud and abuse and complying with applicable state and federal laws related to health care fraud and abuse.
- This commitment is supported and enabled through an anonymous hotline which serves as one of several mechanisms for reporting suspected fraud, waste and/or abuse, as well as other compliance related issues.
- The leader is to report through any of the reporting mechanisms (e.g., anonymous hotline, supervisor, Compliance Officer) any suspected health care fraud, waste and/or abuse as well as other compliance-related issues.
Experience
Generally requires 7 to 10 years of related experience. Management experience is required.
Education
Bachelor's degree in related field is required. Master's degree is strongly preferred.

Valid license or certification is required as needed, based on the job or specialty.

Working Conditions
Environmental Conditions - Jobs in this group are required to function in a fast paced environment with occasional high pressure or emergent and stressful situations. Frequent interaction with a diverse population including team members, providers, patients, insurance companies and other members of the public. Function is subject to inside environmental conditions, with occasional outdoor exposures. Possible exposure to various environments such as: communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a hospital and medical office environment. May wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as gloves or a mask when exposed to hospital environment outside of office. Physical Requirements - Job function is sedentary in nature and requires sitting for extended periods of time. Function may require frequent standing or walking. Jobs in this group are required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: extended use of computers, preparing and analyzing data and analytics, and other components of a typical office environment.
