Iambic Therapeutics, Inc. is seeking a Director, IP Counsel to lead the company’s intellectual property function from its San Diego headquarters.

This role combines strategic portfolio development with hands-on drafting, prosecution, and outside counsel management, leveraging AI tools in a security-conscious, compliant environment. The successful candidate will drive global IP strategy, oversee trade secrets, and guide collaborations and licenses, aligning with business objectives and regulatory

Qualificações

• Active bar admission in a U.S. state and USPTO registration.
• Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in chemistry or related field.
• 8+ years of life sciences patent experience, in-house biotech/pharma preferred.
• Hands-on drafting and prosecution of small molecule patents.
• Experience with FTO analyses, pharma collaborations, and licensing.
• Regular use of AI tools in IP practice with confidentiality controls.

Responsabilidades

• Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications; manage outside counsel and budget.
• Conduct freedom-to-operate and landscape analyses; obtain formal opinions as needed.
• Lead invention disclosures with research and computational teams; determine inventorship.
• Build and maintain a trade secret program for AI models, data, and know-how.
• Lead IP diligence; draft and negotiate IP terms in collaborations and licenses.
• Make AI tools central to IP functions (searching, drafting, office actions, analytics).
• Oversee publications, lifecycle, exclusivity, and IP-related disclosures.
