Job description

The Director, Investment Operations and Risk Management reports to the Chief Investment Officer and collaborates with the investment, finance, and Philanthropies teams on mission-related investments. This role oversees the operations and risk management of the Church’s endowment, including developing internal systems and controls, financial planning, asset allocation analysis, liquidity modeling, risk exposure analysis, performance reporting, and operational due diligence of external managers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Support cash flow monitoring, rebalancing discussions, and manager oversight.
  2. Manage relationships with custodians, investment managers, and external service providers for cash management, accounting, and reporting.
  3. Develop models related to liquidity, private equity pacing, and exposure analysis, considering the diversified investment portfolio.
  4. Assist in modeling risk and return to recommend and review strategic asset allocations.
  5. Oversee and develop policies related to investment operations, reporting, and audits.
  6. Coordinate with teams to track the mission investments portfolio, including cash flows, performance, and risk.
  7. Collaborate with the Finance team on financial statements, tax filings, and foreign transaction reporting.
  8. Monitor and manage investment and operational risks, utilizing analytical tools for performance and risk assessment.
  9. Conduct operational due diligence on managers.
  10. Train junior team members on operations and risk assessment.
  11. Work with the CIO to develop annual budgets for the Investments Team.
  12. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to policies and procedures.
  13. Perform all duties in alignment with Trinity’s mission and values.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ACTIVITIES
  • Excellent analytical, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency with databases, spreadsheets, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of endowment or similar institutional investment operations.
  • Collegial work style and willingness to perform various tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
REQUIRED AND PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CREDENTIALS
  • BS in Finance or related field; CPA, CFA, or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in operations, reporting, or accounting for a multi-asset portfolio.
  • Experience with real estate investments is a plus.
