Job summary

The START Center for Cancer Research is seeking a Director of Investigational Drug Section to oversee all IDS operations at the assigned site and fulfill clinical pharmacist duties. The role includes medication order verification, dispensing, patient education, and high‑level supervision of IDS staff.

Travel up to 25% to sites is required. Responsibilities span ensuring compliance with SOPs, protocol reviews, drug accountability, and coordination with nursing and study operations to maintain

Qualifications

• Graduate of an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy.
• Current State license.
• Previous hospital/clinic pharmacy experience.
• Familiarity with sterile compounding requirements for chemotherapy agents and related equipment.
• Computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
• Familiarity with EMR and study IRT systems.
• Knowledge of GCP principles.
• Sterile compounding & chemotherapy certification.
• IV sterile product training.
• Prior experience in clinical trials and management of investigational drugs.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Director, Nursing and study operations leader to ensure efficient, high quality patient care is maintained and prioritized.
• Collaborate with site leadership team and QA to promote alignment in workflows and processes.
• Ensure adherence to all local/federal expectations for IDS space and SOPs.
• Verify medication orders including dosages and study criteria, and confirm consent forms and labs meet criteria.
• Oversee preparation and dispensing of all IDS medications with supervision of technicians and double-check processes.
• Provide pharmaceutical care including patient education and drug information to healthcare teams and patients.
• Oversee inventory and documentation of IDS medications and supplies.
• Assist technicians with maintainance of investigational documentation and weekly inventory.
• Review new protocols and amendments and related forms.
• Maintain IDS drug accountability and generate reports.
• Enter accurate medication orders and maintain patient home meds in EMR.
